1 Why these rules exist
Client sites sit on shared servers. One site behaving badly spoils things for its neighbours — so the rules here are not a formality but a way of not ruining everyone’s day at once.
The rules are simple: do not break the law and do not get in anyone’s way.
2 What may not be hosted
- Anything forbidden by law — in particular material depicting violence against children, or calls to violence or hatred.
- Other people’s work without permission: pirated software, films, music, books.
- Malware, viruses, hacking tools.
- Pages pretending to be someone else’s site or bank in order to extract passwords or money.
- Get-rich-quick schemes, financial pyramids and the like.
3 What may not be done
- Send spam — neither from your site nor through our mail.
- Attack other people’s servers, scan other people’s networks, guess other people’s passwords.
- Mine cryptocurrency, seed torrents or run exit nodes of anonymity networks.
- Use the hosting as file storage unrelated to a website.
- Work around the limits of your plan by technical tricks.
4 About resources
We do not meter traffic or limit it artificially. But processor and memory on a shared server are divided between everyone, so a site consuming them immoderately is one we will first help to fix rather than switch off: most often it is a heavy plugin or a loop in the code, and that is curable.
If a project really has outgrown a shared server, we will say so honestly and find another solution.
5 Backups
We make backups every day and keep them for 28 days. Restoring is done at your request from the account.
Even so: keep your own copy of the site. Our backups are insurance against a failure on our side, not a substitute for your own caution.
6 What happens if the rules are broken
First we write to you and explain what is wrong. Most cases end right there: the person did not know, or their site had been hacked.
If the breach continues, or the site is actively harming others, we suspend the service. We report that by email too, with the reason.
We act without warning only where delay is impossible: the site is spreading malicious code, taking part in an attack, or something forbidden by law has appeared on it.
For a gross or repeated breach the agreement ends, and payment for that period is not refunded.
7 If you have noticed a breach
Write to our email describing what exactly and at what address. We check every report. If you are a rights holder, say precisely which rights have been infringed.
